Sorry Folks...it looks like the weekend of March 9th is one of the SAT weekends...some of the boys have already signed up to take the SAT that weekend...in light of this we will no longer consider going to the IMG Showcase tournament...our search continues for a spring tournament...best of luck to all the boys in their SAT prep and SAT exams...study hard boys and stay tune mom and dad.

Hi Folks

all good things must come to an end...I was getting use to life without soccer...then comes the high school season...oh well...hope everyone is settling in to their season..few things to remind the boys about their high school season...don't get hurt and don't get bad...take care of your body guys...hydriate well...stretch...get plenty of rest..when you are not playing try to stay off your feet..yes Cam get some rest:)...and finally guys keep working to improve those grades...now to the business at hand..Scott and I together with Coach Nuno have been looking at what spring tournament the boys can do...the attached is one we think will be good for the boys...however there is a BIG BUT....it's March 9-11...just a few weeks into the high school season...taking all that into consideration we want to know if you will still be interested...the list of college coaches that will be there is very good...some if not all of the boys will probably miss a day of school and also a game...if you will like us to do this please let myself or Scott know...you can view the list of colleges that will be there by doing CTRL+CLICK on "GO HERE FOR A FULL LIST" on the attachement...I know this is not easy...particularly the fact that they may have to miss a day of school..one way to look at this I believe is playing in this tournament give the boys another opportunity to be seen as oppose to playing a high school game in which there will be no college coaches watching them....so let us know what you think...boys much success in your high school season and GO PHOENIX!!!!

Good Evening Everyone!!!

I hope everyone is off to a great start in 2012!!! I'm sure many of you enjoyed a couple weeks of soccer quiet, and now, high school soccer tryouts have begun.

I wish the boys good luck in their seasons if they are playing, and more importantly, that everyone stays healthy and keeps up with their school work...a big challenge this time of year.... I know!!!

Just a couple of updates:

We are looking for a Spring Tournament for the boys to give them a little more college coach exposure, as well as keep them playing together as a team. As soon as something is confirmed, we will let you know. Obviously, with the high school season it is difficult to coordinate.

In regards to State Cup, the dates are on our calendar, but they are as they always are: Memorial Day weekend for the first round (and unfortuneatly for those of us with Seniors graduating, it is also graduation weekend!); the following weekend (June 2-3) is the State Cup finals.

I have booked a hotel, but it is not my first choice. We are on a waiting list for my first choice (the Country Inn & Suites we were at last year by the Publix, of course!). We have time to book final reservations, so I will not send information until everything is confirmed. I just wanted everyone to know the dates and know that we do have a hotel.

That should cover it for now...I miss my GSA family and look forward to seeing some of you in the high school stands!!!

Due to continued thunderstorms, Georgia Soccer Park is too wet to play there today. We have rented out Silverbacks Park (synthetic fields) for this afternoon. We will now be having camp at Silverbacks Park (see address below) tonight from 2:30-6:30pm. Please arrive at the fields at 2:10pm to pick up stuff and have introductions. We will start camp at 2:30pm.

Saturday's forecast is calling for some slight rain. You may want to pack some rain gear as we plan to get the sessions in. Obviously, thunderstorms or heavy down pour (not currently in the forecast) would be the only reason we would alter the schedule. From the forecast, we should be fine - just wanted to let you know our plans to get this in.

Saturday: Wear red shorts, red socks...Bring both jerseys.

Sunday: Wear white shorts, white socks...Bring both jerseys.

Make sure any jacket/hoodie you wear is with the GSA logo.

There is a pretty good chance of rain...plan accordingly! Extra socks? Just an idea!

Either bring your lunch or lunch $$. Lunch is NOT provided. There will be some parents there to cart you to a place to eat.

I hope everyone has enjoyed their day and are ready for the big week ahead of us. I hope everyone travels safe tomorrow and we look forward to seeing you all Tuesday.

Nuno has asked that we meet in front of the ESPN complex at 1:30pm, prior to our 3:00pm game on Tuesday, Dec. 27. We will need to cover some things and give the boys their passes for the complex.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Dec. 9, 2011) – A cool and overcast day welcomed the Under-15, Under-16 Under-17 and Under-18 US Youth Soccer National League Boys to day two of games at Sports Blast and Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex in Birmingham, Ala.

The U-15 and U-16 teams from GSA Phoenix of Georgia earned their place in the league this season, joining one boys’ team and one girls’ team from the club to previously earn a spot in the league.

“We’ve had a chance to be here in the past and it’s really second to none. What I love about National League is that you have to earn your way to get here, it’s not something that’s given, so I think this is the league you look forward to being in because now you know you’re going to be playing the top teams throughout the country, and there’s nothing an elite athlete looks for more than that. That’s the real thing about this,” said GSA Boys Director of Coaching Nuno Piteira.

“I think if you’re a real athlete you measure yourself against the best, and we know what we are in Region III in terms of competition and how we play, so to have that feel for what happens in the Northeast, the West Coast, the Midwest, it’s a great thing because it gives players that great insight and that great confidence for where they are not only regionally, but more importantly where they are nationally.”

“It gives you the chance to compete against the best but not only that, if you’re a college coach, what you want is to be in a position to evaluate, look at players and measure them against the very best. So we've put ourselves in a position to really showcase our athletes. There are college coaches here out of the Northeast, Midwest and so-forth that don’t have the chance to see kids out of our region every day and they have a chance now to watch the best of the best and say ‘There’s someone that might make a difference in our program’.”

Under-16 GSA Phoenix 96 Red gave up a last minute goal to Region III rival West Pines United Black (FL) yesterday to draw 1-1. Today they finished off the game to come out 1-0 victors and claim a tie for the second spot in the division.

“Ultimately, when you’re in this type of event you’ve got to get points. We played a great Beachside team out of Connecticut today; very competitive, very athletic and they really pressured us and didn’t allow us to do what we like to do. So, to come out of here with three points is massive. Now we look forward to tomorrow because now we know we kind of have an opportunity to be in the mix and look for that thing that all these teams are looking for, which is a bid into the National Championships.”

National League teams are club soccer teams with an individual proven track record of success in US Youth Soccer regional and national competitions, and are among the nation's best. Close to 300 collegiate, professional and National Team coaches are expected to attend this weekend to scout some of the top teams and players in the country, citing the competitive level of each game as every team has to earn their spot in the competition, regardless of hometown or club affiliation.

The first place team from each division (blue and red) in the U-15, 16 and 17 age groups will earn a ticket to the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships, making each match valuable to the team’s fate as it could make or break their chance at competing for a National Championship.

Some highlights from today’s matches…

Under-17
The second day of U-17 Boys play featured two teams from last summer’s National Championships as Albion SC White (CA-S), National League division winner and National Championships runner-up in each of the last two seasons, met Region I Champion Beadling SC 94/95 (PA-W). 2010-2011 National League division scoring leader and ’11 National Championships Golden Ball winner Ariel Lassiter stepped up again as he finished off a low cross with a one-time shot in stoppage time to give Albion the 1-0 win.

Galaxy 94/95 Blue (IL) took an early lead over AC Bethesda (MD) with Jack Patrick’s 2^nd minute goal. But last year’s division runner-up, Bethesda, finally grabbed an equalizer in the 83^rd from Region I ODP member Christopher OdoiAtsem to save a point with a 1-1 draw.

Under-16
Region III finalist GSA 96 Phoenix Red (GA) defeated Connecticut state champ Beachside SC 1-0 to move into the top three of the Under-16 Red. Georgia ODP player Joseph Sandres scored the game winner for GSA in the 18^th minute as they improve to 1-0-1.

West Pines United Black (FL) joined GSA and division leader Michigan Jaguars atop the group after their 2-1 come from behind victory over AHFC 96 (TX-S). Geraldo Arriaga scored first for AHFC in the 12^th minute, but Jamar Campion Hinds equalized in the 32^nd before Jon Ross Walker put in the game winner for West Pines with nine minutes to play.

Region II semifinalist CUP Crew Jrs. Gold 95 (OH-S) and, National League returnee and Eastern Pennsylvania state champ Lehigh Valley United 95 (E-PA) could not be separated as they ended 0-0. CUP now has two draws while Lehigh drops to the bottom of the table with a tie and a loss.

Under-15
Region I champion Smithtown Arsenal (NY-E) jumped into the win column with a 2-1 comeback victory versus Region III semifinalist, Concorde Fire Elite (GA). Andrew Deltac struck first for Concorde just before the break, but two goals in four minute from Matthew Aprile in the 60^th and Steven Braccioforte in the 64^th lead Smithtown back for the win.

Missouri state champion St. Louis Scott Gallagher Academy knocked off Pennsylvania East state champ Lehigh Valley United 96 3-1 to stay unbeaten. Ryan Ebert notched the first goal for SLSG in the 23^rd and Youth National Team member Logan Panchot doubled the lead in the 31^st. LVU’s Cade Harmon cut the lead in half with a goal just after the restart, but Jessie Messerly extended the lead back to two in the 65^th to close out the win for SLSG.

Maryland state champion MSC Magic Green settled for two draws in its first two games, drawing 0-0 with GSA Phoenix 97 Red (GA). GSA gained their first point in the tie.

AL College Showcase Update

Good Morning GSA Family!!!

I hope everyone had a great week! We have one tournament down and two more to go!!! I can't thank you all enough for your support and efforts this soocer season, but especially this hectic month!!!

I just wanted to cover a few things before this weekend's games.

First, our Friday game is at noon. Please make sure you leave in enough time to give the boys an opportunity to get out of the car and stretch, eat prior to the game. Please be at the field at 11:00am (note this is all Alabama time).

Next, I've been told that there is a parking fee of $10. I'm not sure if this for our fields, if it is a daily charge or for the whole weekend. Just be prepared with cash and, if it is a daily charge, we can try to carpool as best we can.

I have the boys' free tickets for the NCAA games. Sadly, our Saturday game is at 8:00am, so I'm not sure how much of the Friday semi-finals the boys will get to watch. One game starts at 5pm and the other at 7:30pm Friday night.

With our Saturday game being so early, it will leave a lot of down time for boys. I highly recommend some studying, as High School Finals are next week. I'm sure the boys will just LOVE that!!! :)

Of course I've checked the weather, weather geek that I am, and it is going to be really cold this weekend. One night has a low of 29 and I think that is the morning we play at 8:00am. Please make sure the boys bring all their winter gear for playing (Nuno has asked that they dress as a team for both warm ups and on the field). To prevent muscular injuries, its really important the boys warm-up well and dress correctly, both before the games and after the games. And of course, hydration, hydration, hydration!!! I know in the cold weather this is easy to overlook, but those muscles still need it!!!

College ID Camp

I have Cameron, Chris, Franklin, Zack and Ebun who have responded to the Concorde College ID camp (all yes). Would the others please respond either way (yes or no). Ryne, I think you said no because of another conflict, but please confirm. The dates are Sat/Sun January 21/22 and the cost is $195. Below are the coaches committed with more to be added. My email is sgrassmyer@oxfordinc.com. We want to make sure we hear back from everyone before we open it up to others. We also expect to have a few from our 16's and 18's.

Concorde is currently holding a spot for us. We need to give them a definative answer after this weekend. If anyone wants to discuss it further with Nuno, you can do so in Birmingham

Good Evening Everyone:

After a long....long....did I mention long, weekend of soccer we have Monday practice off. (Thank you Nuno!!!) I know many of you had several children in the GSA tournament and were pulling double duty all weekend. Thank you for volunteering and helping when needed.

Our next practice will be Tuesday, 7pm to 9pm.

I will keep you posted as to practice on Wednesday and/or Thursday.

We play Friday, Dec. 9 at 12:00pm vs. VA (field 4) ; Saturday, Dec. 10 at 8:00am vs. KY (field 2); and Sunday, Dec. 11 at 11:30am vs. TX/Dallas (field 6). We are still at Rathmell Fields, 3576 East Street, Birmingham, AL 35243.

If you need to change your hotel reservations at the Hampton Inn, Hoover, please call them directly (205.380.3300).

Since we are playing at noon on Friday, and we gain an hour on the way over, I will now be leaving Friday morning. If anyone needs a ride, please let me know.

After much digging, I think I have found our schedule for this tournament. Just trying to give everyone as much notice as I can, but please be aware this was from 11/24 and could change in the future.

We play Friday, Dec. 9 at 12:00pm vs. VA; Saturday, Dec. 10 at 8:00am vs. KY; and Sunday, Dec. 11 at 11:30am vs. TX/Dallas. We are at Rathmell Fields, 3576 East Street, Birmingham, AL 35243, fields 4, 2, 6 respectively.

If the Friday time stays, we will need to leave Thursday night to AL, as it takes 3+ hours to get to our hotel/field. This means the boys will miss school on Friday.

Please be thinking about travel arrangements for your player. If you need a ride or can provide rides on Thursday night, please let me know.

If you feel your player can not miss school on Friday, please discuss with Coach Nuno.

Also, remember the NCAA playoffs are going on while we are there. The Semi's are on Friday night and the Final on Sunday afternoon. The boys will have passes to attend all these games, but family members much purchase their own tickets at www.collegecupsoccer.com.

We will be needing some parent volunteers for the GSA Adidas Tournament this weekend at McCurry Park South. Here is our schedule and our volunteer requirements. Friday, Dec. 2 - 5:15pm vs. Concorde Fire Elite; field #21. We have Field Marshall duties for fields #21 - 22 from 4:30-6:30pm.

Saturday, Dec. 3 - 5:30pm vs. Rowell Santos Blue; field #24. We are Field Marshall for field #25 and have scoring duties from 3:00-6:00pm.

Sunday, Dec. 4 - 3:45pm vs. RYSA Sporting; field #23. We have trash and clean-up duties from 1:30-5:30pm.

I will be traveling to the Friday game right after the high schoolers get out of school (probably around 3pm). If anyone needs a ride or can help with rides during the weekend, please let me know.

I will need to send Chris with someone for the Saturday's game.

I know this is a busy month for everyone, with both work and personal events, as well as our soccer schedule getting crazy!!! Please stay well rested and focused. We need all hands on deck and healthy as we head into these very important tournaments.

SC Games this Weekend

Hello GSA family!!!

The last two games of our R3PL season are this weekend! Would love to come away with two strong wins as we head into our 3 tournaments in December.

Coach Nuno has asked for players and parents to meet at the hotel at 1:00pm for a quick meeting before heading to the fields.

The game times are still showing 3pm for Saturday and 9:00am for Sunday at the BB & T soccer complex. So another quick turn around for the boys. Hydrate and lots of bananas and potatoes!!!!

In addition, there is a home football game for USC which could impact our drive over in the AM, as well as dinner options after the game. Please plan accordingly. MapQuest has the time to Columbia, SC right around 3 hours.

We have reserved the Soccer Academy indoor facility for training tomorrow night. We only have the rink for one hour (from 7:00 to 8:00). Nuno wants everyone there ready to warm up out side the rink by 6:45. Please bring $5 towards the cost.

Sorry if this is a repeat (I sent earlier, but do not think it made it through). My GPS could not pick up the 4100 Carolene Way address in Cumming. I did a cross street search and Fowler Park is very close to the intersection of Atlanta Highway and Castleberry Rd. My GPS says that intersection is 4002 Atlanta Highway, Alphertta, GA (not Cumming).

You might want to mapquest directions to make sure. I would give yourselves a little extra time.

Thanks to Desmond organizing the field marshall duties during the Atlanta Cup and our expenses tracking a hair below earlier estimates, we will reduced December to $50. Once we get through Disney and make a decision on a spring tournament, we will revise the April installment.

I'm sure by now some of you are asking what happened to our field marshal fund raiser..well I'm glad you asked....the wheels of GA Soccer grinds very, very slowly...it was just last week that Larry gave a check to the 16s..the treasurer for the 16s will be mailing a check to Scott this week for our portion...which I'm told should be a little over $700...so to ALL who participated in this event a BIG THANK YOU...hopefully this will be one of our staple fund raisers every year..well ok for one more year..thanks again folks..

Hi AGAIN!!!

It is time to book our hotels for the College Soccer Showcase in Alabama.

This is a three day tournament, starting on Friday, Dec. 9 through Sunday, Dec. 11. The boys will be missing school on Friday. If you will not be able to make Friday's game, please make sure you communicate this with Nuno.

During this tournament, the NCAA Men's College Cup will be going on with semi-finals on Friday night and the championship on Sunday afternoon. Good Afternoon GSA Family!

I wanted to thank everyone for another great weekend of soccer!!! I'm always amazed at the commitment from the parents and players to make these weekend travel trips successful.

I also wanted to share something with you all and I hope you will share with your boys. My friends from Ft. Lauderdale came up to Jax to visit us and watch Chris play. Her comment after watching the boys play Saturday afternoon was "those kids are tough as nails; look, he just face planted into the ground and jumped back up and kept going!!!!". Her husband, whose parents are from Spain and France, and has grown up loving and watching our sport, could not believe the level and speed of play; so much so, that initially they were going to leave Saturday but changed his mind to stay and watch Sunday's game. I share this because many of us have watched our sons play since they were 6 or 7 years old. We are so used to the great keeper saves (nice job Conner!), the slide tackles, the headers, the passing, the goals, that I know I forget the level our sons are playing and competing at. They truely are some of the best players in their age group!!! So, we should take a moment and enjoy their effort and accomplishments.

Okay, now the moment is over, and it is time to get back to work!!!! ha ha

I'm sure Nuno would agree, while they are very good, they can be better and have some areas to focus on as we head into the next two games on Nov. 5 and 6 against our other Georgia teams. I expect these matches to be "gudge" matches and will be as tough as any other games we have played. Please keep up with training, good nutrition, rest and homework!!!! As I've been trying to get Chris to understand, these does not mean the night before games!!! It is a continual process....and one they need to learn before they head off to college!!

A reminder that your Disney reservations must be made by this Thursday, Oct. 27.

I will be sending out hotel information for our Nov. 19/20 to South Carolina and for our tournament in Birmingham, AL Dec. 8-11 this week. Please pay close attention to the deadlines for these hotels.

Good Morning Everyone!! I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weekend and were able to spend some time outside with your families!

We will be traveling to Jacksonville, FL this weekend for two games. This is our longest drive time this season of approximatley 6.5 hours. As of right now, the games are at 4pm on Saturday and 8:30am on Sunday.

Nuno has asked that we be at the fields by 3pm, however, please remember not to have the boys pulling in at 3pm after the 6+ hour car drive. They need time to eat and stretch before the game.

Please reply to me at ktwccc@comcast.net and let me know how your player is getting to the games this weekend, if you have room for passangers, if they need a ride, hotel room, etc.

The Keller truck will be leaving Friday afternoon, hopefully before rush hour traffic; I believe the whole family is going (who doesn't want to go to the beach???? - weather showing highs of 78 - NICE!!!) so we would have room for 1 if needed.

Chris' bio is attached below.

 Chris has been a member of GSA since 2004. He has been active in the boys Academy since 2004.

He has coached in the Boys Academy, helped manage the program and was in charge of scheduling for the Boys Academy for three years.

Chris has served on the GSA Select Committee for the past seven years and is the current Boys Select Commissioner

 He has also served in an at large Board position for the last couple of years.

Chris was instrumental in the creation of the GSA Adidas Invitational along with the help of Campbell Chapman.

To  date this is GSA's largest fund raiser.

Chris has also been active with Georgia Soccer and has served as the GA Boys ODP program administrator for three years.

 Chris and his wife Laura have four children. His family are all active at GSA.

His wife Laura is the current team manager for the GSA 96 Phoenix Red team and is also the GA girls 95 ODP administrator.

Taylor, his daughter, is a current member of the GSA 95 Phoenix Red. Nash, his son, is a current member of the GSA 96 Phoenix Red.

Ryan has played for three seasons in the recreation program. Parker, his youngest, is a member of the GSA 03 Boys Academy program.

GSA and its commitment to programs for children have made a positive impact in his entire family.

Chris and Laura enjoy being involved to help sustain these programs.

UNC Ashville vs High Point

if you are like me you can't wait to watch the boys play this weekend...Wendy thanks for the weather update..as I was looking at the various colleges in the Ashville area I noticed that UNC Ashville will be playing High Point University on Saturday Oct 8 at 2pm...they will be playing at the Greenwood Soccer Field which is right on campus..the address for UNC Ashville is 1 University Hights, Ashville, NC 28804..I had mentioned this to coach Nuno and he is fine with the boys attending this match so long as they seat under a shade and our own weather lady told us earlier that the weather this weekend will be nice...as per a gentleman at the ticket office adimission is free..the attached is a map of the campus for those amongst us who are so gifted to use it...everyone drive safely and GO PHOENIX..oh by the way there will be a coach or two at our games this weekend...so boys listen to mother Wendy, "bring your A game"...

Asheville Games - Please Reply

Good Morning Everyone!!!

I know we are all looking forward to this weekend!! It is has been a long break between games, and we need to bring our "A" game this weekend as we begin the busy October/November section of our schedule.

Please make sure the boys are keeping up with their studies and are getting plenty of rest and good nutrition. These long, traveling weekends will have a drain on them (and us, the chauffers!!!)

The weather for this weekend in NC looks beautiful, but a little cooler than we are used to. Please make sure your players have the appropriate gear for the cooler weather. Bring all pieces of the uniform kit. I'm hoping we won't have to do laundry, but I'm not sure I want to ride home with smelly socks anyway!!!

Just a reminder: The first game is on Saturday at 6pm. Nuno has asked that the boys arrive well before warm-up time to stretch their legs, eat, rest, etc. Please be at the fields for warm-up at 5:15pm.

Also, if you are interested, Desmond will be sending an e-mail out later in regards to the college soccer game being played in the area. This would be a great opportunity for the boys to relax and watch some soccer before our game time.

Finally, please e-mail me at ktwccc@comcast.net and confirm your players travel and hotel accomodations. I need to account for all players prior to departure. (And make sure I have player passes...lol!!!)

I have blocked rooms for the Jacksonville games at the following hotel. It is about 4 miles from Patton Park and has a complimentary breakfast.

The first game for Jacksonville is on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 4pm. MapQuest has travel time from ATL at approx. 6 hours. Nuno has recommended the boys arrive Friday night. If you can not stay Friday night, then please leave very early Saturday morning to arrive in Jax no later than 1 or 2pm to give the players an opportunity to get out of the car and stretch their legs PRIOR to warm-up.

If the weather cooperates, we will have a scrimmage against the UGA Men's Club Soccer Team during our practice time.

Nuno has asked for the boys to arrive 1/2 hour earlier (7:30pm) for warm-up and kick off will be at 8pm.

We will still be at GSA.

Please have the boys wear all white. (Apparently, Nuno doesn't think about laundry and mud!!!!)

Jacksonville, FL Hotel Reservations - Oct. 22

This request is in regards to the boys' games in Jacksonville, FL on Oct. 22 and 23. Our game on Saturday is at 4:00pm and it takes about 6 hours to get to Jax. So, this may be one of those times we travel the night before and stay two nights.

Either way, I need to know how many of you will need hotel rooms and for how many nights.

I am about to complete the field assignments for Sunday field marshall duties...thanks to all those who have volunteered...at this moment we are a one adult short for both the 7:30 - 9:30 and the 9:30 - 12:30 shifts...as to be expected for a Sunday morning...we are loaded on the 12:30 - 2p shift...so if you are only doing the 12:30 - 2p..you may want to see if you can pull a double by helping on the 9:30 - 12:30...expect another email either later today or sometime tomorrow with the field assignments...thanks again...GO PHOENIX!!!!

the sign up sheet for the field marshall fund raiser is looking good...I'm still waiting to hear from some of the boys/parents...guys remember this will put some well needed money in the bank for the TEAM...plus you get to hang out with your team mates and remember if you pull a double shift I buy your lunch...with the exception of E..his mom will have to do that...no lunch for Freddy too..he is a Yankees fan...sure Coach will agree with me on this...on my original email I listed Friday Sept 2 as the deadline to respond...reason being is I've got to make sure we have enough bodies to cover all four shifts...so if you haven't already done so...please let me know what shift you will like to cover...to those who have already responded a BIG THANK YOU...a very big thank you to Dave and Connor..who not only sign up but they sign up for the 7:30 shift...you guys ROCK...GO PHOENIX!!!!!

Fund Raising Opportunity

Hi Folks

we've been given the opportunity to raise some money for the team by handling the field Marshall responsibilities at the GSA fields during Atlanta Cup Sept 4, 2011...we are expecting maximum participation in this event....EVERY PLAYER IS EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE....with the exception of Connor.

Now this is what we'll need to get this done....we will have three shifts...SHIFT 1. 7:30 - 12:30...SHIFT 2. 12:30 - 2:00...SHIFT 3. 3:00 - 5 :30....there will be a break in the action between 2:00 and 3:00...shift 1 is the longest...so we'll split it in two....SHIFT 1A. 7:30 - 9:30 and SHIFT 1B. 9:30 - 12:30...we'll need a minimum of 4 adults and 4 boys to handle each shift...double shifts are more than welcome...for all the boys who pull a double lunch is on me at GSA.

I know this will be a holiday weekend but doing this will help in putting some money in the bank and also give the boys some time to hang out even if it's just for half a day...old players get to know your new team mates.

Please reply to desmondterry@comcast.net with your availability by Thursday Sept 1st..indicate on your reply what shift you will like to handle...the more participation we have the easier this will be for all...just as a way of encouragement...the 16s did this last year and they banked $1700...now can't promise you we'll do that well...since we are splitting the weekend with them...but even if we get half of $1700...that's not bad...looking forward to everyone making this happen...GO PHOENIX!!!!!

Hopefully I was successful in adding everyone to the team website. New players should have received an email from the site to invite you to register on the site. Once you register, you can manage your own profile, add email addresses, add cell phone address to get text messages (encourage the boys to do this). We will soon use the site for all communications. So if there is an alternative email address that you want all messages to be sent, please add it to your profile.

We need some fresh photos. Those who have nice cameras, please take some photos this weekend. You can upload them to the site into the photo galllery. I can then pick some for the header pictures.

Someone was commenting on the slow speed on trying to upload photos. The help section had the following suggestion on reducing the size of the file.

Faster photo uploads

The site allows the addition of multiple files at a time. The speed of upload is entirely dependent upon your internet provider.

The best way to upload many photos is to use the email feature. This allows you to attach as many pictures as you want to an email and send the email to the site for automatic loading. HINT: Your email will be much faster if you ask your email program to reduce the size of your photo files to around 100kb. It is very easy in Outlook however if you don't know how to do it with your program, try a Google search on "resize photos using YOUR EMAIL PROGRAM".

Another option for those using Windows Vista or Windows 7 is open your picture folder and hold the control key to select each picture. Then choose the email option at the top of the tool bar. The program will ask what size to make the photos.
